This story is about how young people can reach their goals in life, despite the obstacles that may come their way.
Famewas the Broadway hit show about a legendary New York High School of the Performing Arts, which became even more popular on the big screen.
Fans and critics made a song and dance out of the pop culture phenomenon, and St. John’s International School is now doing the same thing with its own production in Waterloo next month.
The story is set in the 1980s, during the final years of New York City’s celebrated High School for the Performing Arts.
The performing arts department of the school has revived the version of “Fame Jr.” It tells the bittersweet but ultimately inspirational story of an eclectic group of students who dedicate themselves to four years’ worth of rigorous artistic and academic work.
The show will explore the issues facing many young people in today’s world with candour, humor and insight. A school spokesperson said, “It is going to be a fantastic musical production.”
Tickets cost between EUR10 to EUR16. The two-hour performance takes place at St. John’s International School on Dreve Richelle, Waterloo, on Friday, May 12, from 7pm. There will also be a matinee on Saturday, May 13, from 2pm.
